Born in Lahore, Pakistan, Shahista discovered her artistic calling through her deep connection to cultural narratives and symbolic imagery. Her formal education at the National College of Arts in Lahore provided her with technical foundations, but it was her personal exploration of ancient myths, spiritual traditions, and the relationship between humans and nature that truly shaped her distinctive artistic voice.
Throughout her career, Shahista has consistently explored the themes of duality, transformation, and spiritual awakening. Her early work focused primarily on figurative representations, but over time she began incorporating birds—particularly doves and eagles—as powerful symbols of freedom, transcendence, and the divine messenger. The recurrence of these motifs throughout her work creates a visual language that speaks to universal human experiences while remaining deeply rooted in South Asian cultural contexts.
Shahista's artistic evolution has been marked by an increasing sophistication in her mixed media techniques, combining traditional painting methods with experimental textural elements. Her recent work has garnered attention for its emotional resonance and technical innovation, earning her recognition in galleries across Pakistan, the Middle East, and beyond. Through her ongoing artistic practice, she continues to explore the mysterious connections between human consciousness and the natural world.

Her palette typically features rich blues, earthy browns and ochres, and metallic accents, creating a sense of both earthly groundedness and spiritual elevation. Her compositions are characterized by a masterful balance between figurative elements and symbolic imagery, particularly the recurring motif of birds, which she employs to explore themes of freedom, transcendence, and the human soul.
