Gulgee

Legendary Abstract Expressionist & Master Calligrapher

Gulgee (1926-2007) stands as one of Pakistan's most celebrated and internationally acclaimed artists, whose revolutionary approach to abstract expressionism and masterful calligraphy earned him global recognition. Born Ismail Gulgee, this artistic titan transformed the landscape of Pakistani contemporary art through his bold, innovative works that seamlessly blended Eastern and Western artistic traditions.

Known for his dynamic, large-scale paintings characterized by powerful gestural strokes and profound spiritual depth, Gulgee's work transcended cultural boundaries while remaining deeply rooted in Islamic artistic heritage.
